The intent of the NLP is to develop the leadership competencies of current supervisors and future leaders of the Forest Service. These primary competencies include but are not limited to: -Accountability: Assures that effective controls are developed and maintained to ensure the integrity of the organization -Conflict Management: Identifies and takes steps to prevent counter-productive confrontations. Manages and resolves conflicts and disagreements in a positive and constructive manner. -Developing Others: Develops leadership on others through coaching, mentoring, rewarding, and guiding employees -Human Capital Management and Performance Management: Assesses current and future staffing needs based on organizational goals and budget realities -Leveraging Diversity: Fosters an inclusive workplace that maximizes the talents of each person to achieve sound business results. Values and leverages individual differences in such a way to achieve the vision and mission of the organization. -Financial Management: Demonstrates a broad understanding of the principles of financial management and marketing necessary to ensure appropriate funding levels. This program is competency based and is heavily influenced by personality types, self-awareness and self-management topics. These topics are considered the foundation of the program and a means to develop proficiency in the desired leadership competencies. The program is also influenced by the PACE Palette or MBTI-Type I assessment, conflict management and an optional emotional intelligence assessment.
