ANWR Snow Training
Workshop on the Snow Cover of the 1002 Area Conditions, Measurements, Challenges

& Bureau of Land Management

October 9-10, 2018: Fairbanks, Alaska

The workshop is for state, federal agencies, industry and other groups interested in over-snow work and conditions in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

At this two day workshop, we will discuss:
     • the nature of ANWR snow cover and its properties;
     • unique aspects of the 1002 are compared with other North Slope areas;
     • challenges faced in operating within and over snow;
     • best practices, tools, and measurements; and
     • tools, measurements and datasets likely to be required for those operations

Our team has combined more than half a century of experience with snow on the North Slope:
     • Dr. Matthew Sturm, University of Alaska Fairbanks Geophysical Institute
     • Dr. Chris Hiemstra, U.S. Army Cold Regions Research and Engineering Laboratory-Alaska
     • Mr. Frank Urban, USGS Denver

     • Ms. Melissa Head, DNR, State of Alaska


     • The meeting will run from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day with 20 minute breaks in-between
     • Breakfast and lunch will be provided both days
     • Dinner will be provided the first evening
     • Refreshments available throughout the meeting

Current Address:

Keep your current address and your contact phone numbers up to date.

If available, you can securely save new payment methods or update existing ones -- for instance, update your credit card expiration date.

Shipping Addresses:
